Schedule and Registration
Course Structure
All core courses are offered in role-alike cohorts. During the 2011-2012 school year, courses will be available for teachers who hold the following roles:
- District-based data roles, e.g. Language Assessment Team (LAT) Facilitators, AAF Service Team Members, etc.
- School-based team leader roles*, e.g. Grade-Level or Subject-Area Team Leaders, Math or Literacy coaches, Department Heads, etc.
- Mentoring roles, e.g. New Teacher Developers (NTDs), Boston Teacher Residency Mentors, cooperating practitioners with student teachers, etc.
These courses are facilitated study groups in which participants use provided materials and one another to strengthen their teacher leadership skills. Participants work to demonstrate that they meet course competencies by completing the practice-based performance assessments. Read more about this unique professional learning structure here.
*Note: Unlike district-based leadership roles which carry a formal job description, school-based team leaders' work can vary significantly from school to school. Our practice-based courses are only applicable to school-based team leaders who are formally recognized as leaders of a team within their schools. Therefore, candidates for School-Based Team Leader courses must download this letter, which is a request for role confirmation from your principal.
