Strengthening Systems
The Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE) partners with the Boston Public Schools to improve district policies and structures so they better support effective teaching and whole-school improvement efforts. In all of this work, we keep the focus on what matters most — student learning.
Using School Data to drive district decisions
BPE works as a strategic partner with the Boston Public Schools to improve how data are used to guide school- and district-level improvements. We are helping the district to learn from the rich data that emerges from school-based inquiry. By closing the information gap between the people leading reform in schools and those shaping professional development and other human resource systems, the district will be able to use existing resources more effectively to improve teacher effectiveness and student outcomes.
Trouble-Shooting Policy Obstacles
BPE has worked with district leaders to solve a variety of systemic issues – from new teacher hiring and retention, to improvements in district data systems, to more equitable funding strategies. The policy issues all emerged from our direct work with teachers and school leaders.
