Viviana Touré is responsible for supporting the professional development of teacher residents specializing in English as a Second Language, as well as mentor teachers and BTR graduates. Previously, she facilitated teams of teachers and school leaders in accelerating student achievement through cycles of data-based inquiry at BPE.  Ms. Touré’s has served as a principal intern, a middle school special education teacher, a bilingual elementary school teacher, and a grade-level leader. She recently completed the Summer Principals Academy through Teachers College and holds an MEd in Educational Leadership from Columbia University, an MA in Bilingual Special Education from Fairfield University, a BA in English, and BS in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University. Ms. Touré has studied in Spain and Guatemala and taught English as a Second Language in China.

The Boston Teacher Residency is a joint initiative of the Boston Public Schools and the Boston Plan for Excellence (BPE) and is housed at BPE.

The Boston Plan for Excellence is working to make sure every child in Boston receives an excellent education. As a local education fund and nonprofit, we seek and support innovative solutions to the toughest problems faced by Boston’s students, their teachers, and the school system as a whole.
